Capital Campaign

Charles   -

A few weeks ago a little more than 100 families participated in the church survey we did at Wright’s Chapel. Rev. Zip Long from Horizon Stewardship helped to lead that survey for us and sent us a detailed report with recommendations. (You can find the link to full survey results below.)

The survey was designed to help us consider whether now is the time to begin a capital campaign and if so what items the campaign should be most focused on. Thank you so much to all of those who participated by helping to give us a clearer picture of our path forward.

After talking with Zip and reviewing the survey report, our Administrative Council agreed unanimously at our June meeting to move forward with the capital campaign this fall. The main focus of the campaign will be to raise the money necessary to complete the building of a new facility to house Cindy’s Closet Thrift Store and our Mobile Ministry. The new building will be built on our property adjacent to our current building right behind the Timbers Restaurant. Using the data he obtained from the survey, Zip calculated that we should be able to raise between $715,000-$850,000 over the next three years. Any funds that we would raise over the cost of the new building would be used to pay down the current mortgage debt that we have from the building of the sanctuary in 2000 and building the fellowship hall and office space in 2008.  In making the decision to move forward the Administrative Council was clear that they were not looking to take on any more debt at this time. Our church plan would be to raise the money first and then move into the building phase.

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to begin this new adventure with you all. Certainly, there will be some ups and downs along the way. It is however your willingness to move forward and the great potential that is present to make a tremendous impact for God as we seek to serve our community with the love of Jesus that gives me such hope and enthusiasm. I love being your pastor and having served and walked together with you now for over 30 years. I can’t wait to see all that God has in store for us as we continue to seek to be faithful in making disciples of Jesus Christ who will transform the world for God.

Peace Charles
