It has begun!
Youth Bible study started back last night. This year we moved our Bible studies from Thursdays to Wednesdays. We meet most every Wednesday during the school year at three different homes. The high schoolers meet at my house, the middle school boys meet at the Collier’s house, and the middle school girls meet at the Tillapaugh’s house. We meet from 6-8 and eat dinner together and study scripture.

This year we started a new curriculum called One Story. The plan is we will go through most of the Bible in the school year. We’ll look at the major stories and how they are all connected. It’s a great way to learn more about the Bible but to also see how our story fits into the Biblical story. We started off last night with the creation story and how we are all made in God’s image. We are a reflection of God but we are not God. We also talked about Adam and Eve’s fall but that God showed them mercy and grace even though they sinned. God still shows that mercy and grace to all of us!
I enjoy the break in the summer but I always enjoy when youth starts back in the fall. I enjoy meeting the new youth and welcoming the new high schoolers into my home on Wednesday nights for Bible study. The Bible study part is important but I think the fellowship part is just as important. Getting to eat together and to get to know each other better. Showing hospitality to the youth and helping them to see this a safe place for them to be. I’m so thankful for all the volunteers who make all this possible. They are not only opening up their homes and cooking for these young people. They are making a difference in their lives that will last a life time!
