A new place for moms
It is coming, Moms, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Finally, a moms’ group where we can connect, fellowship, vent, figure things out, support one another, even work on a mission project or two during the school year. It will be here, at our very own Wright’s Chapel. My family has lived here for over 12 years and I have always felt that in our county we have lacked some where for moms to gather and to become friends. This is NOT a playgroup for our kiddos, this is a growgroup (totally made that up!) for moms. This is Building Better Moms (BBM). Our mission is to connect moms right where they’re at through learning, growing, and serving together.
I was so thrilled and scared when Charles came to me saying that he wanted me to start this new group. I mean, I felt that I needed it, even now, with my youngest at 10 years old and oldest a senior (I’m freaking out a little y’all!!). But did other moms feel this way? And, y’all, the reception from our moms has been beyond any that I could have imagined. You feel we need it, too. And one of my best girlfriends, Mandy Shire, is going to help me lead it and get it off the ground this first year.
This will be a safe place for all moms, any mom, single mom, stepmom, foster mom, even grandmas that are raising our future. If you have a child, newborn to high school/young adultish age, you are welcomed to come and check us out and be a part of this new thing.
We are going to meet once a month (most months) during the school year (September through May) in the evening. We are tentatively thinking on a Monday night, 6-8 pm. The group will, also, have a social outing or two for us to get away and just do something fun. Some of you may opt/have to bring your littles with you. That is fine! We will have FREE childcare available for our regular monthly meetings. We’ll have dinner and time to get to know our neighbors. After dinner, we will have a guest speaker or a video and discussion on various topics that moms are facing today.
You do not have to be a member of or even attend Wright’s Chapel to be a part of Building Better Moms. This is for any mom that can make it to our meetings. Dues are $30 for the year and include a BBM t-shirt. The dues will go towards our t-shirts, our mission projects for the year, and other moms who might be in need. If you know a mom who could benefit from our group, but may not be able to afford the dues, please let me know.
We are looking for leaders for a few positions within the group, too. We are looking for moms who can commit to the monthly meetings (and a couple this summer to prepare for the year) and who want to make everyone feel welcomed. These positions will be decided by the end of June, so if you are interested, please get your registration forms in. We are in need of a:
Treasurer handles the membership dues, budget, etc.
Missions will handle all aspects of planning/organizing upcoming missions for the year
Table Leaders communicate on a regular basis with those Moms assigned to your table
Even if you just want to check us out in the Fall, please register now, so that we have an idea of interest and can gear our guest speakers and activities towards our members. We have a limited number of members that we can accept.
You know, it is okay for moms to take a little time for themselves and do something just for you. It took me, as a mom, a little while to realize that. We deserve this and I can’t wait to start this new adventure with you all!
