New Adventures!
Most people around the church, if you have been here for any length of time, probably recognize me either from the 9:45 or 5:30 services, preschool, youth, or vacation bible school. I usually have my camera in my face. For the last 3 ½ years I have taught preschool and volunteered with our youth.
I married my high school sweetheart, Tom, a few years after high school and after he had joined the Marine Corps. We celebrated our 24th anniversary just a week before Christmas. We moved to the area almost 12 years ago, when he returned from Iraq and decided he was done being deployed after 13 years of service.
All 3 of our minions have been a part of the afterschool and Sunday school programs. Gavin is a junior this year and time is flying by for sure quicker and quicker. I am trying not to freak out. Kalista is in 8th grade. Aedan (Gav’s mini-me) is in 4th.
I love our preschool program and I love our children that are a part of it. Three and four is such a great age and being able to see them learn and grow and be a part of that has been a huge blessing in my life. It helped to give me some purpose to not just be Tom’s wife or Gavin’s, Kalista’s, or Aedan’s mom. Leaving the preschool, especially in the middle of the school year, is something that I am sad about, but I have hope that they all will become a part of our Sunday school and/or afterschool programs. Fingers crossed.
I am excited about my new position as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t scared too. Molly has been such a big part of my children’s and maybe even your children’s lives and the thought of trying to fill those shoes is a little intimidating. So bear with me as I try to get a handle on this new role and if I don’t quite do it the way she did.
We are always looking for teachers/volunteers to fill spots in our Sunday school and afterschool programs. If you have ideas that you would like to share, stop by my office and pull up a chair. You can always reach me via email at susan@wrightschapel.org.
Looking forward to this new adventure in 2018!
